日本には、5月5日に行われる「端午の節句」という、男の子の健やかな成長と健康、そして将来の立身出世を願う日本の伝統的な行事があります。その「端午の節句」に飾る人形が、五月人形（サムライ人形）です。
また、ドイツでは、親から子へ代々テディベアを受け継ぐ風習があるといいます。
